April’s ‘plant of the month’ title at Love Plants has been given to the Mimosa tree. With its delicate fern-like foliage and vibrant flowers, it is easy to assume that this plant is as delicate as it looks. However, it is surprisingly resilient. This makes it perfect to plant in April with the cool climate and unexpected weather we are still experiencing.
The Mimosa tree originates from the Acacia genus and can add a charming touch of elegance to any garden or indoor space. It thrives best in well-drained soil and enjoys plenty of sunlight, making it a perfect addition to any windowsill or sunny garden spot. It requires little maintenance, which makes it a perfect choice for new gardeners, but can still be enjoyed by those with more experience..
The bright yellow flowers not only brighten up your space, but they are also highly attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies. So it lends its benefits to our ecosystem too! Providing us with a sweet fragrance, it’s clear to understand why we are seeing an increase in bees in our polytunnel this month!
We at Love Plants agree that the Mimosa tree (acacia dealbata), embodies the true essence of Spring with its colouration, ecosystem benefits and the joy it has brought to our customers. See if you can spot our acacia dealbata on your next visit, we don’t think you will be disappointed!
