A plant centre based in Shrewsbury are hoping that a dedicated two month redesign will boost customer footfall as avid gardeners prepare for the 2024 gardening season.
Visitors to the plant centre can expect to see a lot of new stock coming throughout the year, with a focus on seasonal themed displays which are aimed to inspire what additions to make to your garden throughout the year. The driver behind these changes is Tom Pountney, who in December was appointed as Love Plants’ new manager.
Tom originally joined Love2Stay in 2018 as head groundsman ensuring that the park continued to be an award-winning touring and glamping resort, which has a reputation as one of the best parks in the UK. His journey into horticulture began at a young age, studying Horticulture at Pershore in Worcester for three years.
With a deep-rooted passion for gardening, Tom spends a lot of his free time developing his own garden which is regularly opened up to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme, an organisation which raises funds for local charities in the area. Tom also spent a decade at Moreton Garden Centre near Wrexham, with 5 years experience as manager.
His other successes include speaking at specialist gardening workshops at Love Plants and also leading Salop Leisure to success with the design of a show garden at the 2023 Shrewsbury Flower Show. This received a number of accolades including “Best in Show”.
Tom Pountney said “It is a huge honour to have been appointed manager of Love Plants. This is a reputable garden centre that has earned a reputation as somewhere for gardeners of all abilities to come to for expert advice, lots of choice and excellent service for over a decade now.”
“For the last few months, we have all worked together to ensure our displays are looking vibrant for the start of the year. As a keen gardener myself, I know that now is the time when your seasoned gardeners will begin thinking about what work they are going to do in the garden this year. We have ordered lots of new stock and also tweaked our suppliers so we can prepare our customers for the year ahead.
We’re also excited to offer new products such as water features and pot trellising, which we are sure will make gardens more dynamic this year.”
Customers visiting Love Plants this month can expect to see the summer bulbs collection which will add colour to your garden in a few month’s time.
