Customers who buy a Christmas tree from Love Plants, the specialist plants centre at Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury, during the festive season will be helping to support Severn Hospice.
Award-winning caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure will donate £1 for every Christmas tree sold, which will go towards its pledge to raise more than £10,000 for the hospice in the next year.
The Shrewsbury-based company, which has branches in Stourport-on-Severn and Machynlleth, has made a flying start to its fundraising campaign by presenting a cheque for £3,335 to the hospice. The money was raised at the company’s recent successful West Midlands Caravan & Motorhome Show.
Salop Leisure will also donate a sum to Severn Hospice for every caravan or motorhome sold during 2025 and other fundraising initiatives are also being discussed.
Prices for freshly cut Christmas trees at Love Plant range from £35 to £50, £39.99 for slimline and £59.88 for potted, British grown Nordmann Fir and Fraser Fir trees. A free delivery service is offered within a 10-mile radius of Shrewsbury.
Salop Leisure’s chairman Tony Bywater and marketing manager Ed Glover were recently given a tour of the hospice.
“Until our visit, I didn’t realise the full extent of what Severn Hospice does for people in our communities,” said Mr Bywater. “Sadly, there have been quite a few staff members who have had to use the hospice over the years and the care and support provided are wonderful.”
Jenny Bean, Severn Hospice corporate fundraiser, said: “Salop Leisure’s support means so much to us and this is just one of the ways they are raising vital funds for our care.
“Our services are completely free of charge, so every single pound they are generously donating makes a huge difference to local families when they need it most, not just at Christmas, but all through the year. Each tree purchased is a truly a gift of care that lasts all year.”
